Regional Warehousing with Delivery by Installation Teams

On one of many projects we've done for PPG they found they needed to not only get a new display installed at their customer's stores, they also needed to remove the old displays for off-site disposal. This was going to be an expensive add-on task for PPG. 

So, we recommended PPG ship their displays to our regional warehouses. We had the installation teams transport the displays on their routes to the stores, and then bring back the old displays on the same truck for disposal back at the warehouse. 

This creative thinking saved PPG over $50,000.00!

(And, we did the same thing for them on a couple more projects with the same kind of savings!)

 

What we’ve accomplished:

 

1.

When the installation teams carry the displays with them they save time at the store. No hunting for the display in the stock room. We've been able to do 300 stores in 2 weeks using this process, cutting the project time by 30%.

 

2.

PPG ships to 9 locations instead of 300. No LTL challenges. No damages. No failed attempts due to delayed freight. Consolidation from different manufacturers saves further transportation costs.

 

3.

This process has worked well across several projects, including a full retrofit in a major PPG customer's stores. And during that retrofit we also planned how to keep the old displays available for shopping while the new ones were being installed. (That's the retailer in us coming through!) No missed sales for the store or for PPG!
